The Kirat Rai Yayokkha Japan Central Committee has expressed deep sorrow and strong objection following the vandalism of the sacred Sumnima–Paruhang statue located at Chhitapokhari, Ward No. 6 of Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality in Khotang district, Nepal.

In a statement issued on April 13, 2025, the organization stated that the act of damaging the revered statue, which holds profound cultural and spiritual significance for the Kirat Rai community, has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Kirati people both in Nepal and abroad.

Condemning the incident as a disgraceful and unacceptable act, Kirat Rai Yayokkha Japan called on the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and identify those responsible. The organization has demanded strict legal action against the perpetrators to ensure justice and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The statement further emphasized that religious and cultural symbols must be respected and protected, as they represent the identity, faith, and heritage of indigenous communities.The Kirat Rai Yayokkha Japan also urged the government and local authorities to take necessary measures to safeguard cultural and religious sites across the country.
