Takasaki, Gunma – April 1, 2025
The opening ceremony of the Takasaki City Foreign Residents Support Consultation Center was held today at the Takasaki City Hall in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture. The new center aims to strengthen support services for foreign residents by providing consultation and guidance on administrative and daily life matters.

As part of the initiative, Nepali language consultation services have been made available for Nepali residents living in Takasaki City. The service will be offered every Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, providing a dedicated four-hour window during which Nepali speakers can receive assistance regarding administrative procedures, daily life concerns, and other municipal services.

City officials encourage members of the Nepali community currently residing in Takasaki to visit the center if they face difficulties related to language barriers or require support in dealing with municipal procedures. The consultation service is expected to help improve access to public services and ensure that foreign residents can receive accurate information and assistance.
In addition to in-person consultations, Takasaki City will also expand its outreach through community broadcasting. Beginning May 26, 2025, important announcements from the city—including information on local events, disaster prevention, welfare services, and childcare support—will also be delivered in Nepali through Radio Takasaki 76.2 MHz. The Nepali-language broadcasts aim to ensure that critical information reaches the growing Nepali-speaking community in the region. The initiative reflects Takasaki City’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for its diverse population, ensuring that foreign residents have better access to information, services, and community resources.
